| In 2004, in a Byron Bay home kitchen, Clive Lawler accidentally gave 2die4 Live Foods its very modest beginnings, as he experimented with the fermentation and dehydration (long soaking/low temp-drying) of many different nuts and seeds, and the baking of long-fermented breads. Eventually, it became obvious that the taste and nourishment value of his WALNUTS were not only “2die4”, but also marketable. So Clive created a label and packaging, selling them to the local health food stores, under the title “Fermented Walnuts”. Later he added PECANS and ALMONDS to the range, and because of public feedback, changed the title to “Activated Walnuts”, “Activated Pecans”, etc., and pretty soon he had outgrown his cottage industry status. Then along came an old mate, Jon Henning, with capital and enthusiasm, and they formed a partnership, taking on a commercial kitchen in the Byron Bay industrial estate, where they expanded their range to also include PEPITAS, BRAZILS, and MIXED NUTS, and where their production and quality potential could improve immeasurably. |
